November is Adopt-A-Senior Pet month and the end of kitten season.  The “Kittenpalooza and Seniors Too!” is an opportunity for community members to celebrate November by adopting an end-of-the-season kitten or a well-seasoned senior pet at the SLO County Animal Shelter.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – Help celebrate Adopt-a-Senior-Pet month and the end of kitten season by adopting a loveable senior pet or cuddle kitten at the SLO County Animal Shelter.

The Kittenpalooza and Seniors Too! adopt-a-pet  will be held on the lawn of the San Luis Obispo County Shelter at 885 Oklahoma Avenue, San Luis Obispo, November 7, 2009 from 11:00 am to 4:00pm.

What can you do to help to solve the homeless companion animal problems in San Luis Obispo County?

1) Spay or neuter all of your pets, including any outdoor cats you are feeding.

Spaying and neutering our pets bring to a halt the endless cycle of animals being born who end up as homeless pets at shelters. The added benefit is spayed and neutered pets have fewer health and behavior problems.

It’s especially important to take care of the stray cat that you are helping.  If that stray isn’t neutered the number of homeless kittens s/he can bring into the world is staggering.

Be A Friend to Your Pet

What to do if you can’t keep your pet.

Lives change, which sometimes means we can’t take our dog or cat with us. Unfortunately, summer is a season when many more of us find ourselves facing this challenge.  When too many dogs or cats come to the SLO County Shelter, the shelter becomes overcrowded and adoptable dogs and cats must be put to sleep to make room for incoming pets.

Animal Services is a Mirror
